Days of week : Thursday About the event : With their eclectic mix of Dublin street songs, traditional Irish dance tunes, classic folk fused with blues and punk, Lynched & Fortune are sure to sure to tickle the fancy of discerning music lovers of all tastes. For the first time, the brothers of the cult folk-punk band Lynched have joined forces with the infamous Fred Fortune to unleash their unique take on the folk idiom. The Lynch brothers have spent the best part of the best decade perfoming worldwide, to audiences as diverse as the revolutionary Zapatistas in Mexico to the huge expat community in Melbourne, Australia. Their instantly recognisable and original style of raucous balladry and cynical social commentary has brought much praise, not to mention a certain amount of flak from the more conservative elements of society. Fred Fortune is the instantly recognisable self styled dilettante who can be found delighting friends and audiences in venues all around Dublin. Born in Clonmel, he has since travelled widely, trying his hand at anything from story telling and stand up comedy to Irish songs and, of course, the bodhrán. With their combined experience and talents, Lynched & Fortune are guaranteed to please. Be sure to check them out. |

While on the DeeJay side Perfect Pete & his Dusty Beats, Boppin' Boplait and King Konal spin Rock 'n' Roll--Honky-Tonk--Surf--Rockabilly--Nuggets and Soul Stompers to the death! THE PAVEMENT KINGS The thumping sound of a slapped upright bass painted in lurid hot-rod flames, the unmistakable twang of a Gretsch hollow-body electric guitar, pounding jungle drums, played standing up, 1950’s style… The Pavement Kings are a 3-piece rockabilly band from Dublin, featuring some leading players in the rock n roll scene. The band is made up of Simon Farrell [aka Spicy of Meteor Award-winning band Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club] on Upright Flame-Bass and lead vocals, Ciaran Foxy Murphy on Lead Guitar and vocals, and veteran session man Shane Atlas on the trash-can drums. The band’s music is an infectious concoction of 1950’s rockabilly, rock n roll, rhythm & blues and surf guitar, with versions of songs by Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Screamin Jay Hawkins, Eddie Cochran and Johnny Burnett, alongside an ever increasing repertoire of original songs. If genuine, authentic 1950’s rock n roll is your thing, then the Pavement Kings is the band for you, Daddy-o! THE PACIFICS Not a lot is known about these 'Pacifics', all we know is that they play a particularly Hamburgian form of R&B music ,speak very good English and like burgers and chips. THE MOSQUITOES The Mosquitoes are a hard edged quartet with Foxy Murphy on guitar & vocals is Ireland's answer to Robert Johnson on acid with Brian O'Huigin on drums Niamh on vocals and Willo O'Brien on bass and vocals. Combining an impressive wide range of influences from Rhythm & Blues, Swamp Delta Blues, Surf and Garage Punk. They're in space and space is the place! THE WAYWARD SINNER BOYS. The Wayward Sinner Boys started as a Dublin based Bluegrass outfit playing a mixture of Ole Time/Bluegrass covers and original material which evolved into what is now a three piece Rockabilly/Roots music band. With Will Nolan on Lead Guitar, Tim Fearnly on Double Bass and Brian O'Huigin on Drums. Tim we are told is very fond of chip butties and when recently asked about his political views Will told us 'it's none of your fuckin business' |
